My HUAWEI phone/tablet screen does not turn off automatically

Disable Keep screen on while looking

Operation: Open Settings, search for and access Keep screen on while looking, and turn off this switch.

Note: If this option is not found, the device does not support this feature. In this case, skip this step.

Set a pre-installed theme

Cause: Some third-party themes may cause the screen not to turn off.

Operation: Open the HUAWEI Themes app and select a pre-installed theme and wallpaper.

Set a proper sleep time

Cause: If you set a long sleep time, the screen will not turn off for a long time.

Operation: Go to Settings > Display & brightness > Sleep, search for and access Sleep, and set a proper sleep duration.

Disable Stay awake

Cause: If you have enabled it, the screen will remain on while your device is charging.

Operation: Open Settings, search for and access Developer options, find Stay awake (unlock screen), and disable it. (If the feature option cannot be found, it indicates that you have not enabled this feature. In this case, skip this step.)

Note: It is strongly recommended that you disable Developer options during daily use to prevent device exceptions caused by accidental operations.

The screen does not turn off when certain apps are used

  • Cause: Some third-party apps have an always-on screen lock.

    Operation:

    1. Close the apps in the background, return to the home screen, and wait for 10 minutes. If the screen can then turn off as normal, it indicates that the issue is caused by third-party apps.
    2. If the issue recurs after using the device for a while, uninstall the third-party app in question (if you are not sure which third-party app is causing the problem, call the Huawei customer service hotline).
  • Cause: The screen is on by default when the speaker mode is enabled during a voice or video call in a social media app.

    Operation: Disable the speaker mode.

If the issue persists
