Connecting to a HUAWEI CPE's Wi-Fi via WPS

Connecting to a HUAWEI CPE's Wi-Fi via WPS

With the WPS feature on the CPE, you can quickly and securely set up a Wi-Fi connection without entering a complex Wi-Fi password.

The WPS feature of the Wi-Fi device is required to set up WPS connection with the CPE. This feature can be enabled or disabled by using a physical button or a software switch (such as the switch in the WPS software of the mobile phone). Take a HUAWEI phone as an example. You can search for WPS in Settings on your phone. If WPS is available, you can use WPS to quickly connect to the Wi-Fi.

Press the H or WPS button on a HUAWEI phone to connect to the CPE's Wi-Fi

  1. Go to Settings > WLAN on your phone. Enable WLAN, touch the name of the target Wi-Fi network, and place your phone within 1 meter away from the CPE. If the Wi-Fi indicator on the CPE flashes slowly, the CPE has detected your phone.
  2. Press the H or WPS button on the CPE. If the Wi-Fi indicator on the CPE flashes faster, the CPE is connecting to your phone.
  3. When the Wi-Fi indicator on the CPE stops flashing and becomes steady on, your phone is connected to the CPE's Wi-Fi.

Press the H or WPS button on a non-HUAWEI phone to connect to the CPE's Wi-Fi

  1. On your phone, go to Settings > WLAN > Advanced settings > WPS connection. (The operation may vary depending on your phone.)
  2. Press the H or WPS button on the CPE within 2 minutes. The Wi-Fi indicator on the CPE will flash faster.

When the Wi-Fi indicator on the CPE stops flashing and becomes steady on, your phone is connected to the CPE's Wi-Fi. There is no need to select a Wi-Fi or enter a password throughout the entire process.

Connect to the CPE's Wi-Fi via the web-based management page

  1. On your phone, go to Settings > WLAN > Advanced settings > WPS connection. (The operation may vary depending on your phone.)
  2. Connect your computer to the CPE's Wi-Fi (or to the CPE's LAN port using a cable). Type 192.168.8.1 into the browser address box, and enter the password to access the CPE management page.
  3. Choose Advanced > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi WPS.
  4. Click PBC Connect. The Wi-Fi indicator will flash white quickly. (The color may vary depending on the CPE.) When the Wi-Fi indicator on the CPE stops flashing and becomes steady on, your phone is connected to the CPE's Wi-Fi.
