[HUAWEI] The distance/speed is inaccurate after I start an outdoor workout on my watch/band

When you are doing an outdoor workout, your watch/band will record your routes and other workout data, and calculate your distance and speed based on your personal profile.

If you feel that the distance/speed recorded by your watch/band is inaccurate, the possible reasons are as follows:

The personal profile is not set correctly

Calculation of distance/speed for outdoor workouts uses your personal profile as reference, including your gender, height, weight, and age. To improve the accuracy of workout data, please set your personal profile correctly.

  • To set your personal profile, open the Huawei Health app and go to Me > Profile.

The workout route is inaccurate

The distance/speed for outdoor workouts is calculated partly based on your workout routes. If the routes of outdoor workouts on your watch/band are inaccurate, the distance/speed calculation will be affected.

  • Keep the satellite data on your watch/band up to date. Keep your watch/band connected to the Huawei Health app for 5 to 10 minutes before you start an outdoor workout, in order to automatically update the GPS satellite of your watch/band.
  • Update your watch/band and the Huawei Health app to the latest versions.
  • Exercise in places with few obstacles (such as tall buildings) to improve the stability of GPS signals and the accuracy of workout routes.
  • Start an outdoor workout after your watch/band is successfully positioned.

If your band does not support independent GPS (which is currently only supported by the HUAWEI Band 3 Pro and HUAWEI Band 4 Pro), it is recommended that you link your band with the Huawei Health app and take your phone with you for outdoor workouts, so that your phone can record your workout routes through GPS. This method is applicable to phones running EMUI 5.0/iOS 13.0 or later.

Frequent status change during a workout

When the workout status frequently changes, such as when you stop, accelerate, or slow down during a workout, there will be a delay for your watch/band to display data because it takes a while for the sensor to detect the change to the workout status.

If the issue remains unresolved

Back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
