Why is it necessary to keep the Huawei Health app running in the background

The Huawei Health app will sync messages from your phone to your watch/band. If Huawei Health is cleared from the background, your watch/band will be unable to receive message or incoming call notifications, or sync weather, calendar, or workout data from your phone.

Why would the Huawei Health app be cleared from the background

The phone system may clear apps that have been running in the background for extended periods of time, so as to ensure smooth system running and power efficiency.

How to set background protection for the Huawei Health app

  • Third-party Android phones: Open Huawei Health, touch Devices, select your device card, touch Watch connection protection or Band connection protection, and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the setting. Alternatively, refer to Background protection settings of the Huawei Health app.

  • HUAWEI phones: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or touch the Recent tasks icon on the navigation bar if there is a navigation bar) to enter the Recent tasks screen, find Huawei Health, and gently swipe down on it and hold to lock it. Once locked, you will see a lock icon at its upper right corner.

  • iPhones: Go to Settings > HUAWEI Health and turn on Background App Refresh. In addition, keep HUAWEI Health running in the background, and do not swipe up on its preview to close the app.
