I'm unable to update the audio driver after reinstalling the system

Problem

After the user reinstalled the system and used PC Manager to install the driver, they found that they could not find the audio driver. There was an icon of a red cross displayed on the bottom-right corner of the computer and there was no sound when playing audio on the computer. They also found unknown devices in Device Manager.

Cause

Installing a Windows system featuring a non-Huawei mirror image will cause some original audio components to go missing, resulting in PC Manager not being able to search for the hardware device. As a result, you will not be able to find the audio driver.

Solution

Method 1 (recommended):

  1. Download the latest version of PC Manager from the official PC Manager website https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/pc-manager/.
  2. Open PC Manager, select Auto-update PC Manager, drivers, and the user guide when your computer isn't in use when using it for the first time, and click Agree.

  3. Restart the computer.
  4. Open PC Manager, go to Drivers > Update, and follow the onscreen instructions to update the audio driver.

  5. You can also visit the official Huawei website to download the audio driver of the corresponding device: https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/laptops/matebook-x-pro-2021/.
  6. After you have installed the driver, restart the computer.

Method 2:

  1. If you have already downloaded the latest version of PC Manager, skip to the next step. Download the latest version of PC Manager from the official website (https://consumer.huawei.com/cn/support/pc-manager/) and install PC Manager.
  2. After PC Manager has been installed, double-click the PC Manager icon on the desktop. You only need to install PC Manager once. Do not install it repeatedly. If you have installed PC Manager more than twice, delete the registry key in Registry Editor.
    1. Search for "Regedit" in the search box on the task bar to open Registry Editor. (Note: There are risks entailed when modifying Registry Editor. Back up important data before performing any operations.)

    2. Find KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Huawei\ProductPatch and delete ProductPatch. If you can't find KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Huawei\ProductPatch, skip to the next step.

    3. Select Auto-update PC Manager, drivers, and the user guide when your computer isn't in use and click Agree.

    4. Open PC Manager, click the Settings icon in the top-right corner and then click Check for updates.

    5. Click the Check for updates button twice.

    6. Open PC Manager, go to Drivers > Update, and follow the onscreen instructions to update the audio driver.

    7. After you have installed the driver, restart the computer.
