Meanings of 5 GHz auto-selection, dual-band auto-selection, and tri-band auto-selection

"5 GHz auto-selection" or "dual-band auto-selection" is a feature of the dual-band routers supporting 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi & 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi signals are merged into one SSID. If the signal strength of the two frequency bands are the same, the router automatically selects a faster Wi-Fi frequency band for you. The 5 GHz auto-selection function applies to Huawei routers.

"Tri-band auto-selection" is a feature of the tri-band routers supporting 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, low-frequency 5 GHz Wi-F, and high-frequency 5 GHz Wi-Fi. This means that the Wi-Fi signals of the three frequency bands are merged, enabling the router to automatically connect the device to the optimal frequency band. In addition, devices can be allocated to three frequency bands to balance the load.
