- A MAC address is a physical address or a hardware address, which is used to define the location of a network device. Each MAC address is fixed and unique, determined by its network adapter, and cannot be manually modified.
- If a MAC address changes, it indicates that the random hardware address switch is turned on.
View from Network & Internet (applicable only when your computer is connected to a network)
View using the command (applicable no matter whether your computer is connected to a network)
In the first place, check the current network connection mode. Enter "control panel" in the search box on the taskbar at the bottom, open Control Panel, and go to .

- Right-click the network icon (
) in the lower right corner of the taskbar and select
Network and Internet settings (or Open Network & Internet settings).
- To view the IP address, DNS server, and physical address (MAC address) of the currently connected network, click Properties next to or under
Wi-Fi.
View from Hardware and connection properties (applicable no matter whether your computer is connected to a network)
- On the taskbar at the bottom, click
and go to

Network & internet >
Advanced network settings.

- Click Hardware and connection properties (for Windows 10, click View hardware and connection properties) to view the properties of the local network connection, Bluetooth Internet connection, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connection methods, such as the IP address, DNS server, physical address (MAC address), and default gateway.
View using the command (applicable no matter whether your computer is connected to a network)
- Press
+ R to open the Run window, enter cmd, and click OK.
- In the command window, enter ipconfig /all and press Enter to view the IP address, DNS server, and physical address (MAC address) of the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection method.
