Enable or disable the touchpad on a HUAWEI computer

Enable or disable the touchpad on a HUAWEI computer

 
  • After the touchpad is disabled, you cannot operate the computer using the touchpad. Exercise caution when performing this operation. (You can operate the computer using an external mouse if necessary.)

  • Enable the touchpad
    1. Enable the touchpad using the keyboard
      1. Press Win ()+I to open the Settings window.
      2. Press Tab, the up, down, left, and right arrow keys, and Enter to access touchpad in Bluetooth & devices (or Devices). Then, press Tab to enable Touchpad and press the space bar to enable the touchpad.
    2. Enable the touchpad using the mouse

      Click the Windows icon () on the taskbar, go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices (or Devices) > Touchpad, and enable Touchpad.

  • Disable the touchpad
    1. Press Win ()+I to open the Settings window, and select Bluetooth & devices (or click Devices in Windows 10).

    2. Click Touchpad and turn off the switch next to Touchpad.
       
      1. You can also deselect Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected for the computer to automatically disable the touchpad when a mouse is connected.
      2. If the Touchpad option is not available, refer to Problem 4 in The touchpad of my HUAWEI computer sometimes does not respond to touch commands.

Using Device Manager

  • Disable the touchpad

    Disable the touchpad using the following method. The operation only takes effect in the current state. After the computer is restarted, the touchpad feature is automatically enabled.

    1. Press Win ()+X to open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices, right-click HID-compliant Touch Screen, and choose Disable device.

    3. In the displayed dialog box, choose Yes to disable the touchpad.

  • Enable the touchpad
    1. Press Win ()+X to open Device Manager.
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices, right-click HID-compliant Touch Screen, and choose Enable device.

    Some HUAWEI computers support an all-new HUAWEI Free Touch depending on Huawei PC Manager. Working with innovative gestures, the feature allows you to minimize windows, close windows, quickly take screenshots, record screens, adjust the brightness and volume, fast-forward or rewind videos, and open the notification center.
