How do I optimize my Wi-Fi channels when I'm experiencing poor Wi-Fi quality

Channel quality issues are likely a result of interference caused by competing Wi-Fi signals in the surrounding environment. The amount of interference increases with the number of competing Wi-Fi signals.

Use one of the following methods to optimize this issue:

Method 1: Through the HUAWEI AI Life app

You can use the HUAWEI AI Life app's Smart network optimization feature for channel optimizations (currently, this feature is only available on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi).

  1. Connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the HUAWEI AI Life app on your phone, and go to Tools > Wi-Fi network optimization. Touch REMOVE INTERFERENCE and your router will automatically switch to a channel with a better network quality.

  • This feature is not available if the current channel you are using is already optimal. In this case, the REMOVE INTERFERENCE button will be grayed-out.
  • During the channel optimization process, connections from existing mobile devices will temporarily drop. However, once the optimization is complete, such devices will re-establish their Wi-Fi connections automatically.

Method 2: Through the web-based management page on your computer

You can use the web-based management page to try channels 1, 6, and 11, and select the one that has the best network quality.

  1. Connect your computer to your router's Wi-Fi network, or directly connect it to your router's LAN port with an Ethernet cable. Open your Internet browser. Enter 192.168.3.1 in the address bar, then log in to the web-based management page.

For routers that feature self-adaptive ports, you do not need to distinguish between WAN and LAN ports.

  2. Go to More Functions > Wi-Fi Settings > Advanced Wi-Fi Settings, then set the desired channel in Channel.

Method 3: Restart the router

The router automatically switches to the channel with a better network quality after it is restarted.
