FAQs about Expedition mode on my HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate

The average speed and distance displayed are always 0 or do not update for a long time
The total distance is equal to the accumulated length of the straight lines connecting your consecutive positioned places during the expedition on the current day. If you have not positioned any place, the average speed and distance will display as 0. If you stop positioning places, the average speed and distance will also stop updating.
The distance displayed is shorter than the actual distance, and how to mitigate such difference
The reasons for this issue are as follows:
- If you move on a horizontal place, the distance is the straight line distance between two positioned places, which may differ from the distance of your actual route.
- If you positioned two places at different altitudes, the straight line distance between the two points projected on the horizontal plane will be recorded as the distance, which may differ from the distance of your actual route.
To mitigate such difference, you can:
Enter the watch face screen, press the Assist button on the upper left of your watch to open the Expedition screen, go to Settings > Battery > Positioning interval, select Time or Steps to shorten the positioning interval, thereby reducing the difference between recorded distance and the actual distance.
- The projected distance refers to the straight line distance between two points projected on the horizontal plane.
- Shortening the positioning interval will drain your watch's power quickly. You can choose to enable this feature as needed.
Expedition routes are inaccurate and composed entirely of straight lines
Expeditions are usually time consuming, so to preserve power, the positioning feature is enabled only when a location is marked. As a result, the routes are composed of polylines connecting marked points.
The sunrise and sunset time display is inaccurate
The sunrise and sunset time displayed in Expedition mode is synced with the time in Weather on your watch. If your phone has no signal or your watch is not connected to your phone, your watch will not be able to display the sunrise and sunset time. Moreover, the sunrise and sunset time is affected by other factors such as atmospheric refraction, which may cause the time display to differ from the actual time.
If "--" displays, please refer to Weather information on my band/watch is not up to date, or is not displayed.
The storm warning is inaccurate
Before a storm comes, the local atmospheric pressure drops sharply. Your watch uses the built-in barometer to monitor such change and sends warnings. However, many factors affect drops in atmospheric pressure, which may lead to false storm warnings. You can adjust the warning threshold in Settings and observe the weather to get a more accurate understanding.
My watch automatically enters Expedition mode
If you accidentally press the upper left button (Assist button) on your watch, it will enter Expedition mode. Press or press and hold the Power button to exit this mode. You can also swipe down on the home screen and choose to lock the screen from the shortcut menu to prevent accidental touching/pressing of the screen and buttons.
