Sound stutters when I enable Prioritize sound quality/Optimized for audio quality on my HUAWEI earbuds

Sound stutters when I enable Prioritize sound quality/Optimized for audio quality on my HUAWEI earbuds

Problem

  • Sound stutters when the user selects a fixed high bit rate in Bluetooth audio codec in Developer options.
  • When the earbuds are connected to two phones, sound stutters when the user selects Prioritize sound quality.
  • Sound stutters or noise can be heard when the user selects Optimized for audio quality or Prioritize sound quality.

Cause

  • If the bit rate is up to 2.3 Mbps, 1.5 Mbps, 990 Kbps, or 960 Kbps, sound may stutter due to environmental factors.
  • When the earbuds are connected to two devices, the earbuds' Bluetooth bandwidth is susceptible to environment, causing stuttering sounds.
  • When Optimized for audio quality or Prioritize sound quality is enabled, the transmission is fixed at a high bit rate. In this case, sound may stutter due to environmental factors.

Solution

  • Enabling Prioritize sound quality improves audio quality, but may also affect the earbuds' battery life and cause stuttering. If you select Fixed high bit rate in Developer options, it is recommended that you change it to Balanced (adaptive bitrate) to reduce sound stuttering.

    Once you've updated the plug-in in AI Life to version 2.1.0.54 or later, the Smart HD option for FreeBuds Pro 2 and FreeBuds 5i will change from Balanced audio and connection quality or Optimized for audio quality to Prioritize connection quality or Prioritize sound quality.

  • In dual-device connection scenarios, it is recommended that you select Prioritize connection quality in environments with interference, such as high-speed railway stations and airports.
  • If you have enabled Optimized for audio quality or Prioritize sound quality in AI Life, change it to Balanced audio and connection quality or Prioritize connection quality.

    Audio Accessory Manager cannot be updated on some HONOR device models running MagicOS. You need to download and install the AI Life app or update the app to its latest version, and set Sound quality to Prioritize connection quality or Prioritize sound quality by accessing the earbuds card in the AI Life app.
