Perform the following to troubleshoot:

Unable to drag snippets to apps

Whether snippets can be dragged to an app depends on the design of the app. Perform the following to troubleshoot:

  1. Ensure that the Media and files permission has been granted to the app. (To check this, go to Settings > Apps & services > Permissions > Media and files. Make sure that you trust this app before you grant the permission.)
  2. Ensure that the target screen supports dragging operations. Typical scenarios are as follows:

  3. The text boxes or non-editable control areas of some apps don't support images being dragged into them. Ensure that the position and area to which images are dragged are correct.

No response to Take snippet operations

Some privacy screens don't support the Take snippet feature. If this is the case, the message "Unable to take snippet of private content" will be displayed. Perform such operations on non-privacy screens.

Failed to share

Snippets can be shared with others. If the sharing fails or you receive no feedback after you share them, ensure that you have granted the media and files permission for the app you are using. To check this, go to Settings > Apps & services > Permissions > Media and files.

Unable to open notifications and apps when I'm taking snippets

To prevent interruptions, events such as notifications, alarms, and incoming calls won't be displayed in full screen mode. However, you can still receive notifications and hear ringtones. If you want to perform operations or answer calls, you will need to save or exit the current snippet first.

Snippets disappear after the screen is turned off

When you turn off the screen, snippets will be automatically saved to prevent your important information from being forgotten or lost. You can go to Gallery to find the last snippet.

Exiting the Take snippet feature

In addition to saving and exiting, the following operations will lead to the Take snippet screen automatically exiting:

  • Share: When you share a snippet, it will be saved before being shared. In this case, the Take snippet screen will automatically exit.
  • Return to the home screen: When you perform the gesture for returning to the home screen, taking a snippet will be interrupted. In this case, the snippet will be displayed on the home screen for you to perform subsequent operations.
  • Go to recent tasks: When you perform the gesture for going to recent tasks, taking a snippet will be interrupted. In this case, the snippet will be displayed on the home screen for you to perform subsequent operations.

The Take snippet feature can't be used

  1. Non-HUAWEI magnetic cases may interfere with the stylus and result in the failure to use the Take snippet feature. Remove the case, attach the stylus, and try again.
  2. Forcibly stop the FreeScript app by going to Settings > Apps & services > Apps.
  3. Restart the tablet by holding down on the Power button for 15 seconds or more, or holding down on the Volume down and Power buttons for 10 seconds or more, until the tablet vibrates and the power-on icon is displayed.
