    How push notifications work

  • When your watch or band is connected to your iPhone, your phone reads new messages and sends them to your watch.
  • iOS has a memory management mechanism which clears apps that have been running in the background for long periods of time, so as to ensure smooth system running and power efficiency. It's recommended that you open HUAWEI Health more frequently and avoid closing it manually.
  • Sometimes notifications might not show up — check the following guide to fix this.
  • Notifications marked as read on your phone will not be displayed on your watch/band: When your watch/band is connected to your iPhone, message banners received on your phone will be synced to your watch/band. However, if you manually view the message on your phone, it will be marked as read and automatically cleared from your watch/band.
  • Even though your watch can connect to two phones, it only shows notifications from the phone linked through the Huawei Health app.
  • If someone sends lots of messages quickly, your watch may skip some so you don’t get spammed with alerts.

How to set up message notifications

  1. Connect your watch to your phone
    • Make sure Bluetooth is on (Settings > Bluetooth).

    • Open the Health app and check that your watch shows up under Devices.

  1. Keep the Health app running
    • Don’t close the Huawei Health app — iPhones sometimes stop apps running in the background.
    • Go to Settings > Huawei Health and turn on Background App Refresh.

If it’s off, go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and switch on Wi-Fi & Cellular Data.

  1. Turn on notifications in the Huawei Health app
    • Open Huawei Health > Devices > your watch > Notifications.

    • Switch on Notifications and choose which apps you want alerts from.

    • If WeChat or other Application messages stop showing, open the WeChat or other app and keep it running in the background.
  1. Turn on notifications on your iPhone
    • Go to Settings > Notifications > choose the app > Allow Notifications.

    • Set Show Previews to Always.

    • If you use Face ID for an app, change Show Previews back to Always.

    • If you’re on iOS 15 or later, check Settings > Focus. Turn Focus off if it’s blocking alerts.

  1. Share system notifications
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth > your watch > turn on Share System Notifications.

If notifications still don’t work

  • Restart your watch and phone.
  • Update your watch and the Huawei Health app (App Store > Health > Update).

  • Reset your phone’s network settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings).

  • Delete and reinstall the Health app. Before deleting, sync your data to the cloud in Health > Me > Privacy management

  • Reset your watch to factory settings. This clears everything, so back up your data first. You can re‑download watch faces later.

👉If the issue persists after restarting your phone and waiting for a while, Watch-based push notifications are supported by iPhone's built-in Apple Notification Center Service (ANCS).

If you are worried that your device may be faulty, connect it to an Android phone to check.

·   If push notifications work properly, your watch is normal.

If nothing works, call Huawei customer service. They’ll help you fix it.
