Alleviate HUAWEI phone/tablet lag
Alleviate HUAWEI phone/tablet lag |
Freezing or lag after system update
It is normal if lag occurs within a short period of time after the phone or tablet is updated. System update-related freezing or lag occurs because the system optimizes apps after an update. In this case, the device's payload is high. Optimization lasts up to a week. To reduce the chance of freezing or lag following a system update, it is recommended, following an update, to charge the device with the screen off for at least 2 hours. Check whether freezing or lag disappears after one week.
Make sure that the battery level is sufficient and disable Power Saving mode.
If Power Saving mode is on or the battery level is too low, the device will turn off features to prolong your battery life. To disable Power Saving mode, go to /ULTRA POWER SAVING MODE. Keeping the battery level above 20% is also recommended.
Adjust the screen refresh rate to High
When the refresh rate is set to Smart or Standard, the frame rate will be limited in some scenarios, causing frame freezing. Go to
and set to High.Check whether the device is overheated
Your device features an overheating protection mechanism that prevents it from getting too hot by reducing system performance. To keep your device working normally, avoid using it while it is charging, and reduce the screen brightness and disable unnecessary and power-intensive apps, as well as features such as Bluetooth and NFC.
If your device heats up, turn off the screen to lower the temperature and check whether freezing or lag is relieved.
Check whether the device temperature is too low
If the device temperature is too low, the system performance deteriorates due to insufficient battery activity. Try not to use the device when the device temperature is too low. Wait until the temperature rises and check whether freezing or lag is relieved.
Clear your device
If the available memory is less than 20% of the total memory, the performance of your phone/tablet might degrade.
- If too many apps are running in the background, the running memory will be insufficient, causing app lag. It is recommended that you clear background apps regularly and power off and restart the device every two to three days.
- Insufficient memory can also cause the system to run slowly. Open Phone Manager/Tablet Manager, touch Cleanup, and delete unnecessary files as prompted to ensure sufficient storage space. (It is recommended that you reserve more than 20% of the storage space.)
- Too many apps will occupy a large amount of memory. It is recommended that you uninstall apps that are not frequently used to free up more space. You can touch and hold the app icon and select Uninstall.
Clean up the memory card
- Too many files may slow down the read and write speeds. It is recommended that you regularly clear the memory card to ensure at least 10% space is always free, or back up important data and format the memory card.
- A faulty memory card may also slow down read and write speeds. If a message is displayed indicating that the memory card is not functioning as normal, replace the memory card as soon as possible.
- For the best performance, it is recommended that you use internal storage as the default location for apps and files.
If the Default location option is not displayed after you insert a memory card into your phone/tablet, your phone/tablet does not support changing the default location.
Check your third-party apps
- Uninstall any third-party management apps installed on your device, as they tend to conflict with Phone Manager/Tablet Manager provided by your device.
- If your device freezes when using a third-party app, contact the app or call Huawei hotline.
Other scenarios
