My HUAWEI phone/tablet cannot make calls

If your phone/tablet cannot make calls despite showing a normal SIM card signal, perform the following steps:

  1. Check whether the call failure occurs only when you dial a specific number

If the call failure occurs only when you dial a specific number, contact the other party in another way to check whether the phone number of the other party is abnormal.

If you are notified that the subscriber is busy when you use your phone/tablet to dial a specific number, the other party may have added your number to the blocklist. In this case, contact the other party in another way. After your number is removed from the blocklist, the call can be connected.

  2. Subscribe to the VoLTE service

You may be in an environment with poor 2G/3G network connection. It is recommended that you subscribe to the VoLTE service and try again If you haven't subscribe to the VoLTE service, or your phone/tablet does not support the VoLTE service provided by your carrier, check whether the 2G or 3G icon is displayed in the status bar when you try to make a call. If not, the 2G or 3G network may not be available in the area. It is recommended that you move to another area and try again.

  3. Dial a common 11-digit phone number

If your phone/tablet cannot dial short numbers and indicates that the numbers are invalid, it might be because you are using short numbers outside the designated service area. Short numbers can be used only locally, and cannot be used outside of the designated service area. It is recommended that you dial a common 11-digit phone number.

  4. Check whether the call barring service is enabled

Some carriers' SIM cards provide call barring services. If this service has been enabled, some or all outgoing calls will be barred. For details, contact your carrier's customer service team.

  5. Check whether the SIM card is normal

If your SIM card cannot be used to make calls on other phones/tablets, or if other SIM cards can be used to make calls on your phone/tablet, your SIM card may be faulty. In this case, it is recommended that you visit a nearby carrier store with your ID card to replace the SIM card.

Contact the local carrier

It is recommended that you try making calls on another phone/tablet that uses a SIM card from the same carrier. If this issue also occurs on that phone/tablet, the local carrier's network may be faulty. In this case, contact the local carrier.

Enable and then disable Airplane mode

Some network configurations may make it impossible for you to make calls on your phone/tablet within a short period of time. Enabling and then disabling Airplane mode may resolve this issue.

If the issue remains unresolved

If the issue remains unresolved, contact the Huawei customer service hotline, or back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
