My HUAWEI earbuds do not automatically reconnect or fail to reconnect

If your earbuds do not automatically reconnect or fail to reconnect after you open the charging case, power them on, or separate them from each other, troubleshoot as follows:

  1. Place your device within 10 meters of the earbuds.
  2. If your earbuds reconnect to your phone when the effective range is exceeded, check whether the phone is in the reconnection range when they are reconnected.
  3. (Skip this step for WATCH Buds.) Check whether the earbuds have sufficient battery power by checking whether the indicator on the charging case is green. If the charging case has two indicators, check the indicator inside the charging case.

    • For the FreeBuds series earbuds, if the charging case that comes with the earbuds or the earbuds are out of battery power, or the contacts on them are smudged, normal communications between the case and earbuds will be affected. Use a cotton swab to gently wipe the metal contacts in the case and at the bottom part of the earbuds so that the earbuds are in good contact with the case. For details, please refer to Cleaning HUAWEI wireless earbuds. Then charge the earbuds for at least 10 minutes.
    • For the FreeLace Pro 2 earbuds, flip the Power switch to expose the red dot, then flip again to expose the green dot, and check whether the indicator is green.
  4. Ensure that the Bluetooth earbuds have been connected to your device before and Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Wait for 15 seconds and then open the charging case or separate the earbuds from each other.

    • FreeLace series earbuds automatically power off 15 hours after they are magnetically attached (72 hours for FreeLace Pro 2 earbuds). Power on and separate the earbuds from each other to reconnect them to the phone.
    • If your earbuds cannot reconnect to a watch, this is because watches will not accept any connection requests when they are connected to a phone. To connect to the earbuds, tap their name on the watch.
  5. Manually reconnect the earbuds. For phones/tablets, go to Settings > Bluetooth, toggle off and then on the Bluetooth switch, and tap the earbuds name to reconnect. For PCs, go to Settings > Bluetooth and device and tap the earbuds name to reconnect.

  6. For earbuds that support dual connection, if the second device fails to reconnect to the earbuds while the first device is in a call, wait for five seconds and try again.

If you have connected the earbuds to an iPhone and updated the firmware, the earbuds won't reconnect after you open the charging case. This issue is caused by the protocol identification failure of iPhones. To resolve this issue, delete the pairing record of the earbuds on the Bluetooth screen of your phone, place the earbuds in the charging case again, press and hold the Function button to enter Pairing mode, and then connect the earbuds.

If the earbuds can be reconnected, follow the firmware and software update guide to update the earbuds to the latest version. If the issue persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
