The rotating crown of my HUAWEI wearable does not rotate smoothly, or rotates unexpectedly when being pressed
| The rotating crown of my HUAWEI wearable does not rotate smoothly, or rotates unexpectedly when being pressed |
Problem
- The screen stutters when the rotating crown is rotated, and the rotating crown does not rotate smoothly.
- When the rotating crown is pressed, a rotation is mistakenly triggered on a screen that supports rotation operations to enter the menu.
Cause
The watch may have been exposed to high-temperature and high-humidity environments, seas or saltwater lakes, or has been exposed to dusty fields (for example, wearing the watch when taking a hot shower or soaking in a hot spring, swimming or free diving in the sea, taking part in sandy beach activities, or exposed to sandy weather). In this case, the rotating crown does not rotate smoothly, rotates unexpectedly when being pressed, or even does not respond to operations. In addition, a rotation is mistakenly triggered as the button rod inevitably flutters when rebounding.
Solution
- The watch has a certain degree of water and dust resistance. For details, refer to here. It is recommended that you take off the watch and keep it properly in the preceding scenarios. If you have worn your watch in such scenarios, perform the following operations.
Scenario
Solution
Taking a hot shower or soaking in a hot spring
Perform one-touch drainage and then use a soft dry cloth to wipe the water. The watch will then dry naturally.
Swimming or diving in the sea or saltwater lake
Use fresh water to clean or soak the watch for more than 15 minutes to prevent contaminants such as sea salt particles or sediment from depositing on the watch's surface and internal structure. Then, perform one-touch drainage and then use a soft dry cloth to wipe the water. The watch will then dry naturally.
Exposed to sandy weather; entering and leaving dusty workshops and sandstone fields
Use slow-flowing fresh water to clean the watch in a timely manner to prevent sand and dust from depositing on the watch's surface and internal structure. Then, perform one-touch drainage and then use a soft dry cloth to wipe the water. The watch will then dry naturally.
- Huawei has set the sensitivity of the rotating crown based on the results of human factors analysis experiments, which is suitable for most scenarios. We will continue to optimize the experience of pressing and rotating the crown.
If the issue persists
- If the issue persists, there may be a hardware issue (for example, seawater erosion or dust intrusion into the internal structure). As this requires professional operations and test instruments, please take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
