[HUAWEI] My wearable device can't measure the ambient temperature or my body temperature |
When you measure your body temperature for the first time, you will need to join the body temperature research. If you haven't joined the research or have exited it, you will not be able to use the device to measure your body temperature.
If this issue occurs, troubleshoot it based on your specific scenario.
The ambient temperature around the wearable device changes too fast
The ambient temperature around the device changes too fast, causing the data detected by the temperature sensor to change accordingly. Therefore, the device is unable to provide accurate measurements. Before you start measuring the ambient or your body temperature, it is recommended that you stay away from cold or heat sources, wipe your device and wrist skin dry, wait until the ambient and device temperatures become stable, wear your device correctly, and rest still at room temperature (about 25°C) for 10 to 30 minutes.
Measurements may fail in the following scenarios:
- The ambient temperature changes abruptly, for example, because you just walked out of an air-conditioned room into the outdoors, or out of a cold outdoor location into a warm room.
- A cold or heat source (like air conditioners, fans, and heating devices) is facing your body.
- If the device's cover is wet (for example, after you wash your hands or do housework), or the part of your wrist skin that's in contact with the device is coated with cosmetics or alcohol, temperature measurements may not work properly.
- When you are taking a shower or swimming, temperature fluctuations due to the presence of hot or cold water may cause measurements to fail.
- The device is running a power-intensive app, making the device temperature fluctuate.
- In outdoor environments with direct sunlight or wind, the temperatures may fluctuate.
Your wearable device is worn incorrectly
When measuring the ambient or your body temperature, wear your device one finger width above your wrist bone with the device screen facing up. If you're wearing the device loosely, the device may slide on your wrist and be in unstable contact with your skin. In this case, tighten the strap and wear the device snugly.
It is recommended that you wear your device relatively tightly for 10 minutes before you start a measurement. Starting temperature measurements immediately after you put on the device may result in inaccurate data.
No measurement data when the ambient temperature is abnormal
- If the ambient temperature around your device is too low (< 15°C) or too high (> 35°C), temperature measurements will be affected.
- For example, the thermometer shows that the ambient temperature is between 15°C and 35°C, but the device displays a message indicating that the temperature has exceeded the limit. This is because the ambient temperature fluctuates within a certain range, and the temperatures at different locations in the same scenario may vary. The temperature indicated by the thermometer may not be the ambient temperature around your body.
- It is recommended that you wear your device correctly and rest still at room temperature (about 25°C) for 10 to 30 minutes before you start a measurement.
- Your device may heat up when it is being charged or when you are using power-intensive apps (for example, a music app). Before you start a measurement, make sure that your device has exited charging and power-intensive apps, and wait until the device temperature becomes normal and stable.
The temperature of your wrist skin is too low or too high
- Temperature measurements by your device may also be affected when your wrist skin temperature is lower than 25°C for HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series or 20°C for HUAWEI Band 6 Pro, or higher than 42°C, due to being exposed to a low- or high-temperature environment or direct sunlight.
- If you feel uncomfortable, seek medical assistance or wait until the skin temperature returns to normal before measuring again.
If the issue persists
