There are noises or there is no sound when I play audio or video using the speaker on my HUAWEI phone/tablet

Problem:

There are noises or there is no sound when the user plays audio or video using the speaker on their HUAWEI phone/tablet.

Solution:

There are several reasons that may result in this issue occurring. Open the My HUAWEI app on the home screen, log in to your HUAWEI ID, and perform the hardware test as follows: Go to Support > Smart Diagnosis > Other hardware damage > No sound or noises > Sound test. Follow the onscreen instructions to test the receiver and speaker.

If any error is detected, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

If the issue persists, try the following:

1. Check the playback source and app

It is recommended that you record the screen when the above issue occurs. You can close the microphone during the screen recording to verify the issue.

If there are noises or there is no sound when you play back the screen recording file with the microphone muted, it indicates that the issue is caused by a third-party app. In this case, you are advised to clear the app in the background and enter the app again. If the issue persists, it indicates that the issue is caused by the audio source. In this case, you are advised to play other audio or video files and check whether the noises persist. If the noises disappear, the quality of the original audio or video files may be poor. Your phone is normal. Please rest assured.

If there is sound when you play back the screen recording file with the microphone muted, but no sound or noises occur during playback, the issue may be with your device. In this case, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.

2. Close background apps or cool down the device

Running too many apps in the background for a long time may consume system resources, which will cause the device to heat up and slow down playback. Close background apps and wait until the temperature returns to normal. Then check whether the noises disappear.

3. Check for system updates

Update your phone/tablet to the latest system version by going to Settings > Software update/System update, and check whether the issue is resolved after the update.

4. Eliminate interference

High-magnetic-field equipment (such as an induction oven or microwave oven) may interfere with the playback on your HUAWEI phone/tablet, resulting in noises. Keep your device away from the equipment or environments that may cause interference. Move to another place and try again to check whether the noises disappear.

5. Check whether the speaker is faulty

Insert a headset and try again. If the playback is normal, the speaker may be faulty. In this case, restart your device or play other files.

6. Check whether the speaker dust filter is blocked

Make sure that the device is covered by a matching protective case to prevent the speaker holes from being blocked. If your device is exposed to water, beverage, oil, dust, or other substances, its filter will be blocked and the speaker volume will be low after long-term use. Use a toothbrush or a soft brush dipped in alcohol to gently clean the dust filter through the speaker holes and check whether the playback is normal.

If the issue persists, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
