Noises are audible on the recordings captured by the watch's microphone or the sound volume is low during a call |
If noises are heard on the recordings captured by your watch's microphone or the sound volume is low during a call, there are several things you can check to try and solve this issue.
When making a recording on your watch, make sure your mouth is facing the watch.
To improve the quality of the recording, keep the watch's microphone within 10 cm of your mouth; the microphone is located at the top of the watch.
If you are in a noisy environment, try to speak louder or move the watch closer to you. When making calls on your watch, keep it as close as possible to your phone (approximately one metre away).
If the sound volume is low during a call, check whether Wi-Fi is enabled on your phone. If it is enabled, disable the Wi-Fi on your phone and see if the sound returns to normal.
Check if foreign objects are blocking the microphone hole of your watch, as this can cause noises or affect the volume level.
If so, use a soft brush to clean the dust from the microphone and speaker holes with the holes facing down.
Check the watch for water infiltration.
Noises may be heard or the volume may be low if water entered your watch. In this case, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
If this issue occurs intermittently, take off and dry your watch, wait for a while and then check if the sound returns to normal.
This occurs if you wear the watch when washing your hands or if you often wash your watch and water remains on the speaker diaphragm. We do not recommend washing your watch with water during daily use. If water is splashed on the watch, dry it with a soft cloth immediately.
If the speaker sound is normal at the beginning, but then noises are heard and the volume decreases gradually and does not return to normal after more than two days, please take your device and a proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
This issue usually occurs when washing your hands with soap or hand sanitizers while wearing your watch, or when you are using the watch in an environment with oil fumes.
Check whether the waterproof film of your watch has been blocked.
If noises are heard or the sound level is low when using a 4G edition watch, remove the SIM card tray and check if the sound returns to normal. If it does, this means that the waterproof film is blocked, causing an imbalance between the internal and the external air pressure.
On non-4G watches, go to Settings > Display > Watch face and select the Explorer watch face theme.
Look at the barometer reading above the watch face and note it down (for example, 998 hPa), then play a ringtone for two minutes. Afterwards check whether the air pressure displayed on the watch face increases (for example, to 1002 hPa).
If the air pressure increased with more than 2 hPa, it means that the waterproof film has been blocked, causing an imbalance between the internal and the external air pressure.
Please avoid contact with any substance that may cause stains or other damage, such as dust, sand, smoke, soapy water, cosmetics, detergent, oil, glue, or other acidic and alkaline substances or solvents.
You can also try to re-pair your watch with your phone and then check if the sound issues are resolved.
If none of the above solved the issue, please take your device and a proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
