No Cloud storage space frees up after I delete contacts in Cloud

Problem

After deleting all contacts in Cloud, the contacts still appear to occupy cloud storage space in Settings > Log in to HUAWEI ID > Cloud > Manage storage.

Cause

When a contact is deleted in Cloud, it is automatically moved to Recently deleted. If the Recently deleted data is not cleared, it will continue to occupy storage space.

Solution

  • Go to Settings > Log in to HUAWEI ID > Cloud > Manage storage > Contacts to view the size of the Recently deleted data.
  • Log in to the HUAWEI Mobile Cloud official website (cloud.huawei.com), click on Contacts, then Recently deleted in the lower left corner, and delete the data.
  • Go to Contacts > four-dot icon in the upper right corner > Settings > Organise contacts > Recently deleted, and delete the data.

There is two-way syncing between Cloud and your device, which means that when you enable syncing for Contacts, any data that you delete from Cloud will also be deleted from your device.
