Dual connect or automatic audio switch feature on HUAWEI earphones

The earphones support the simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, PCs, and watches (but they are not compatible with MacBook series laptops).

Dual connect is enabled by default. You can open the AI Life app of the latest version on HarmonyOS or Android devices, open the earphones card, and access the Connection center to enable or disable Multi connect.

How to connect to two devices

  1. Press and hold the Function button for 2 seconds or longer until the indicator flashes to enter Pairing mode. Search for and connect to the earphones on device A.

If you are using HUAWEI FreeLace Pro 2, flip the Power switch to expose the green dot, and press and hold the Function button for 2 seconds or longer until the indicator flashes white, which indicates that the earphones have entered Pairing mode.

  2. Press and hold the Function button for 2 seconds or longer until the indicator flashes (same as above) to enter Pairing mode. Search for and connect to the earphones on device B.
  3. After device B is successfully connected to the earphones, the earphones will automatically reconnect to device A. In this case, the earphones are connected to both devices.

    • When the earphones are connecting to device B, the Bluetooth connection between the earphones and device A is temporarily disconnected.
    • If a HUAWEI watch is connected to a HUAWEI phone, the earphones may be unable to connect to the watch and the phone at the same time. In this case, update the earphones' firmware to the latest version.

Sound output rules of the earphones when two devices are connected

After the earphones are connected to two devices, only the sound of one device can be played. Sound is prioritized as follows: calls > music/video playback. Music and video playback have the same priority.

  • Calls and communications in third-party apps and games are regarded as calling scenarios.
  • When a PC is connected to the earphones and audio service is running on the other connected device, the other device has the higher priority.
  • Connect to a third device, device C: Disconnect the device you are not using, and connect to the third device.
  • Wake up voice assistant/Start music apps: Wake up or start the service of the preferred device or the active device.
You can set preferred devices via the audio connection center. An active device is defined as follows:
  • When no audio service (music, video, or call) is running on the two connected devices A & B, the first connected device is regarded as the active device.
  • When audio service (music, video, or call) previously ran on both devices A & B, the most recently used device is regarded as the active device.
