Gesture-based volume adjustment on HUAWEI FreeClip

HUAWEI FreeClip offers an experimental feature — gesture-based volume adjustment, for greater ease of use. Before trying out this feature, update all relevant apps and the earphones' firmware to their latest versions, and enable the feature in Experimental features.

.

Requirements

App and firmware version requirements for using the gesture-based volume adjustment feature on HUAWEI FreeClip:

  • Earphones' firmware: HarmonyOS 4.2.0.172 or later
  • If you are using a HarmonyOS or Android device:
    • Audio Accessory Manager: 14.0.5.322 or later
    • Plug-in in the AI Life app: 14.0.5.322 or later
  • If you are using an iOS device:AI Life app: 14.1.0.305 or later

Setting and using the feature

  1. Connect and put on the earphones, open the AI Life app, touch the earphones' card, go to Experimental features > Adjust volume, and enable Tap & hold to adjust volume. This feature is disabled by default.
  2. Adjust the volume to a proper level via gesture control.
    • To raise the volume: Tap and hold down on the front of an earphone (the Acoustic Ball or the area connecting the Acoustic Ball and the C-bridge) for at least 2 seconds until you hear a beep. The volume level can be adjusted by up to three bars each time that you tap and hold down on the earphone.

    • To lower the volume: Tap and hold down on the back of an earphone (the Comfort Bean) for at least 2 seconds until you hear a beep. The volume level can be adjusted by up to three bars each time that you tap and hold down on the earphone.

Avoid tapping the touch control area repeatedly when adjusting the volume, as doing so may trigger another gesture-based feature. Wait for about 2 seconds before using another gesture-based feature.

  3. If the earphones do not respond to your gesture, try tapping the earphone with an appropriate amount of force.
  4. The earphones may fail to recognize your gestures, so it is not recommended that you use this feature when exercising.

  • Once the earphones are restored to their factory settings, the gesture-based volume adjustment feature will be automatically disabled. You can enable it again after a factory reset.
  • Enabling the gesture-based volume adjustment gesture will increase the amount of power the earphones consume.
