AI Voice or HiVoice cannot recognise my voice on HUAWEI phone/tablet

If AI Voice (or HiVoice) cannot recognise your voice on your HUAWEI phone/tablet, follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

It is recommended that you enable real-time network display and check whether the current network is normal by going to Settings and searching for Display network speed.

1. Check whether your previous voice command has been detected

You can only give another voice command after the previous one has been performed.

2. Check whether AI Voice (or HiVoice) is supported

On the home screen, open Tools and check whether AI Voice (or HiVoice) is there, or search for AI Voice (or HiVoice) in system Settings.

For some phone/tablet models, you can swipe down from the centre of the home screen to display the search box and search for HiVoice (or AI Voice).

3. Check whether the microphones are working properly

Open the My HUAWEI or Support app, go to Support > Checkup > Start, and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the inspection process.

  • If it is found that the microphones are faulty, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
  • If the microphones are not faulty, proceed with the following steps:

4. Ensure that the voice input environment is quiet

  1. Maintain an appropriate distance. Voice wakeup works within a range of 30 cm and 2 m, and in a relatively quiet environment. It is recommended that you hold your device inclined at 45 degrees about 20–40 cm away from your mouth and speak with a natural tone and speed.
  2. Speak in a clear, direct, and articulate manner. The voice assistant may have trouble recognising commands if the voice is not loud enough or is unclear.

5. Clear app data

In case of voice database failure, clear the HiVoice/AI Voice app data and try again. (Your voice wakeup phrase will also be cleared when you clear your HiVoice/AI Voice data. You will then need to set the wakeup phrase again.) Follow the steps below to clear your app data:

EMUI 11.0 or earlier: Search for and access the Apps screen in Settings, go to > Show system processes, find and touch AI Voice (or HiVoice), go to Storage > Clear data, and then restart your phone.

6. If the issue persists

If the issue persists or you encounter any difficulties while doing this, please call the Huawei customer service hotline for assistance.
