Unable to update BIOS, the system, or use F10 to restore the computer to its factory settings

Cause

If you have used the BitLocker to encrypt the C drive, data in this drive cannot be modified. In this case, you will be prompted with error messages when using F10 to reset the system, update BIOS, or update the system.

Solution

1. Search for and open Control Panel.

   

   

2. Click System and Security then BitLocker Drive Encryption to disable BitLocker for the C drive or disable BitLocker.

   

   

   

   BitLocker drive encryption is only available in Windows Pro.

3. Restart your computer, hold or press consecutively F10 to reset the computer to its factory settings, or update the system and BIOS and check whether this issue has been resolved.
