For versions of Files later than 8.1.2.302:
Touch Forgot password? and reset your password by answering the security questions or verifying your HUAWEI ID if it has been linked to your Safe. If you have forgotten your HUAWEI ID password as well, touch Forgot password? to reset it.
The Files app does not store your password or answers to security questions. If you forget the password and can't remember your answers to security questions, and your Safe is not linked to your HUAWEI ID, there will be no way to access your Safe or retrieve the files stored in it.
For versions of Files earlier than 8.1.2.302:
Touch Forgot password? and reset your password by answering the security questions. The answers to the security questions are specified by you when you create your Safe.
The Files app does not store your password or answers to security questions. If you forget the password and can't remember your answers to security questions, there will be no way to access your Safe or retrieve the files stored in it.
In Files version 8.1.2.302 and later, you can link your HUAWEI ID with your Safe and reset your Safe password by verifying your HUAWEI ID.
On phones equipped with a Qualcomm processor, you will not be able to link your HUAWEI ID with your Safe. Check your phone's processor, go to Settings > About phone > Processor. If it is not indicated as a Kirin processor, your phone is using a Qualcomm processor. Note that if you do not see the About phone menu on the Settings screen, go to System first.
You need to log in to your HUAWEI ID before linking it with your Safe.
Your HUAWEI ID will no longer be linked with your Safe if you log out of your HUAWEI ID or move your Safe to another device.
If you get the password wrong 5 times in a row, your Safe will be locked for 1 minute. If you fail to enter the correct password another 3 times, it will be locked for 10 minutes. If you fail 3 more times after that, the penalty time will be 30 minutes, then 60 minutes after the next 3 fails. After that, your Safe will be locked for 60 minutes every time you get the password wrong. You will see a prompt indicating the number of remaining attempts after each failed attempt.
If you get the answers to your security questions wrong 4 times in a row, you will have to wait 1 minute before trying again. If you fail to enter the correct answers another 3 times, you will have to wait 10 minutes before trying again. If you fail 3 more times, the penalty time will be 30 minutes, then 60 minutes after the next 3 fails. After that, you will have to wait 60 minutes every time you get the answers wrong. You will see a prompt indicating the number of remaining attempts after each failed attempt.
To check which version of Files you are using, go to Files > Me > Settings > About.
You must provide the correct answers to both both security questions and password before you can reset your Safe password.
