Photos are missing in Gallery after a system update |
If there are no photos in Gallery after your phone system is updated, it may be because your phone has too many photos or the photo folder contains special characters. Wait for a while and open Gallery to check for the photos again, or restart your device and try again. If the issue persists, try the following:
1. Delete Gallery data
Open Settings, search for and access Apps, and go to . Then open Gallery to check whether the photos are there.
Deleting Gallery data will not delete photos in Gallery, but will delete the My favourites, Highlights, and Discover albums. Highlights and Discover albums will be automatically created when your phone has been charged for some time and its screen is off. You'll need to add photos to the My favourites album again.
2. Check whether the photo folder name contains special characters
Check whether the photo folder name contains special characters, such as the number sign (#), at sign (@), and per cent sign (%).
- If the folder name doesn't contain special characters
Open Files, go to , then access the corresponding folder, such as , to check whether the photos are there. If the photos are there, wait some time and open Gallery again. If no photos are there, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
- If the folder name contains special characters
In this case, you may see the number of photos in Gallery but be unable to browse them. This is a compatibility issue caused by the update. Rest assured that the photos are not lost. Back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
