Unable to use hotkeys on my keyboard
  • Check whether all of the function keys (F1 to F12) are working correctly. For example, open Internet Explorer, and press F5:
    • If the browser is refreshed, it indicates that F5 is working correctly as a function key. Then, press Fn to enable the hotkey function. Press F5 again. When you see the volume down icon on your screen, it indicates that F5 can be used as a hotkey.
    • If the volume down icon is displayed on the screen, it indicates that F5 can be used as a hotkey. Press Fn to disable the hotkey function. Press F5 again. If the browser refreshes, it indicates that F5 works as a function key.
    • If you obtain any other result, there may be a hardware issue. Back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
  • Check whether Function key priority is enabled in PC Manager.
    1. Open PC Manager, and click the settings icon in the upper right corner.

    2. Find Function Key.

If you are using PC Manager 10.0 or later, you can find Function Key in System settings.

    3. Select Function key priority.

  • Another possible reason is that certain hotkey services or processes are broken or forbidden. The hotkey function is controlled by Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service.exe and OSDListener.exe, and hotkey functions may be unavailable in the following scenarios:

    1. Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service is forbidden.

    • To resolve this, perform the following steps:
      1. Enter Services in the search box on the taskbar.

      2. Find Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service.

      3. Double-click the service and set Startup type to Automatic

    • If you cannot find Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service, it may have been deleted. Go to the Huawei official website (https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/) or Honor official website (https://www.hihonor.com/global/), search for your device model, and download and install the hotkey driver. Avoid installing third-party manager apps on your computer, as some features of the computer may not work as normal after certain services are forbidden or deleted by third-party manager apps. It is recommended that you use the pre-installed Huawei PC Manager.

    2. Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service can be found in Services, whereas OSDListener.exe can't be found in Task Manager.

    • To resolve this, perform the following:
      1. Enter Services in the search box on the taskbar.

      2. Find Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service.

      3. Stop and then restart the service.

      4. Open Task Manager. If you can find OSDListener.exe, it indicates that the hotkey functions work as normal.

    • If you are unable to find OSDListener.exe, perform the following:
      1. Open Control Panel and select Uninstall a program.

      2. Uninstall the OSD app.

      3. Visit the official Huawei website (http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/) and select Laptops.

      4. Select your device model.

      5. Go to Product Support > Hot Key, and download the installation package.

    3. Huawei OSDMainService Windows Service is found in Services, and OSDListener.exe is found in Task Manager.

    • To resolve this, perform the following:

    • Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to perform a forced shutdown, and then restart the device.
    • If the issue persists, back up your data, and press and hold F10 during startup to restore your computer to its factory settings.
    • If the issue remains unresolved, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance.
