My phone still consumes mobile data when connected to a wireless network

If your smartphone still consumes mobile data when connected to a Wi-Fi network, please find below several scenarios and their possible solutions.

Wi-Fi+ is enabled

When Wi-Fi+ is enabled, your smartphone simultaneously connects to both Wi-Fi and mobile data and it switches between the two when either has a poor reception.

For example, if the device detects that the wireless signal is poor or unstable, it will switch to the mobile network and it will consume mobile data, even if still connected to Wi-Fi.

To solve this, open the Settings, search for and access Wi-Fi+ and disable this function.

3rd party apps designed to use mobile data

Some third-party apps, such as online banking apps, may still consume mobile data even when they are connected to a wireless network. This issue occurs on all Android phones and cannot be resolved by changing the settings on your phone.

Such apps usually do not consume much mobile data. If you are worried about data consumption, swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel and tap the Mobile data icon to disable mobile data.
