How do I cascade a HUAWEI WiFi Mesh with a HiLink Router?

The following steps demonstrate how to cascade two HUAWEI WiFi Mesh routers, which can be performed in the same way as cascading a HUAWEI WiFi Mesh with a HiLink router.

Method 1: Connecting routers by touching the H button

  1. Configure a primary router to access the Internet and ensure that its indicator is steady blue. The router to be connected is referred to as the "secondary router".
  2. Place the secondary router (new or restored to factory settings) close to the primary router (within 1 meter), and connect the secondary router to the power supply.
  3. Wait for about 1 minute. When the indicator of the primary router automatically flashes slowly, touch the H button on the primary router and release. The indicator will then flash faster. When the indicator on the secondary router turns steady blue, this indicates that the pairing is complete.
  4. After being paired with the primary router, the secondary router will share the same Wi-Fi name and password as the primary router. If necessary, move the secondary router to a different location to improve Wi-Fi coverage.

It is recommended that there are no more than two walls between the primary and secondary routers.

Method 2: Connecting routers in the HUAWEI AI Life App

  1. Configure a primary router to access the Internet and ensure that its indicator is steady blue. Then add the router to the HUAWEI AI Life App. The router to be connected is referred to as the "secondary router".
  2. Place the secondary router (new or restored to factory settings) close to the primary router (within 1 meter), and connect the secondary router to the power supply.
  3. Open the HUAWEI AI Life App. The app will then automatically scan for new devices. Follow the onscreen instructions to add the router.

Method 3: Connecting routers using a network cable

  1. Configure a primary router to access the Internet and ensure that its indicator is steady blue.
  2. Use a network cable to connect the LAN port on the first router (primary router) to the WAN port on a second router (secondary router). After the connection is complete, the networking is automatically completed and no additional configuration is required.
