Start Car Engine with Digital Key

Store a virtual, non-duplicable digital car key in your phone's security chipset for unlocking your car and starting your engine. Digital Key can be removed at any time or shared with your friends and family.

Setting it up

Once you've activated Digital Key with your manufacturer or retailer, do the following:

1. Open Settings, go to Device connectivity > NFC, and enable NFC.

2. Set your car app as the Default payment app.

Car door: To lock or unlock, touch the NFC zone (near the cameras on the back of your phone) to the car door lock.

Engine: Place your phone on the wireless charging shelf and press the Start Engine button.

Compatible models

Currently, this feature is supported on the Audi A4 through A8, Q8, and e-tron. For more information about this feature, refer to your vehicle's user guide.
