How do I set my HUAWEI router's Internet access mode

Your router will automatically check your current Internet access mode when you are configuring the router's Internet settings. If you are sure that your current access mode is PPPoE or DHCP, you can set it manually.

Method 1: Using the web-based management page

  1. Connect your computer/phone to the router's Wi-Fi, or connect the computer to the router's LAN port using an Ethernet cable. In the browser address bar, enter the default IP address and log in to the router's web-based management page(check the nameplate at the bottom of the router for the default IP address).

    • For routers that feature self-adaptive ports, you do not need to distinguish between WAN and LAN ports.
    • If you are connecting your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network, switch your phone's webpage to the PC-based UI before performing the following operations.
  2. Enter the Connect to Internet page. In the drop-down option menu under Internet access mode, select what Internet access mode you want. Click Save.

    • If this is the first time you have configured your router, you will enter the Internet wizard. Follow the wizard to set your internet access mode.
    • If you select PPPoE, you will need to manually enter the account and password provided by your broadband provider.

Method 2: Using the AI Life App

  1. Connect your phone to the router's Wi-Fi network.
  2. Open the AI Life App, touch the corresponding router to access the router management screen.
  3. Then go to Show more > Network settings > Internet connection type (or go to Network > Network settings > Internet connection type directly).

  4. Select an Internet access mode according to your current network environment. Touch in the upper right corner of the screen to confirm.
