Update a HUAWEI computer to Windows 11

It is recommended that you use the Windows 11 Installation Assistant for major version updates on your HUAWEI computer, for example, from Windows 10 to Windows 11. This does not apply to HUAWEI MateBook E 2019 and HUAWEI MateBook E Go (including the Standard, Performance, and 2023 models).

Procedure

  1. The update may take a long time. Make sure that your computer is connected to a power supply and network, and the network connection is stable. (Unstable signal may lead to update failure.)
  2. Check whether your computer supports the update to Windows 11 by referring to Computers that can be updated to Windows 11. If your computer supports the update, go to the next step. Otherwise, the update cannot be performed.
  3. Check whether your computer meets the Windows 11 update requirements by referring to Using Microsoft's PC Health Check app to check if my computer meets Windows 11 system requirements. If your computer meets the requirements, go to the next step. Otherwise, the update cannot be performed.
  4. Check whether your computer is HUAWEI MateBook E 2019 or HUAWEI MateBook E Go (including the Standard, Performance, and 2023 models).
  5. Check whether your computer is running Windows 10 2004 (operating system version 19041) or later by referring to Viewing the Windows version.
    • If so, go to the next step.
    • If not, use Windows Update to update the system version. If the system is updated to Windows 11 directly, no follow-up procedure is required. Otherwise, go to the next step.
  6. Check whether the available storage space of drive C is greater than 10 GB.
    • If so, go to the next step.
    • If not, free up space on drive C until the available storage space is greater than 10 GB before proceeding with the next step.
  7. Back up important files to an external storage device (such as a USB flash drive or portable hard disk) to avoid loss of important files.

Some applications are only compatible with Windows 10 and may not install or function properly after upgrading to Windows 11.

  8. Visit Microsoft's official website (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11) and click Download Now under Windows 11 Installation Assistant.

  9. After the download is complete, open the folder where the file is located, right-click the program package, and choose Run as administrator from the shortcut menu.

  10. Click Accept and install. The installation assistant will then automatically download and install Windows 11.

    • If Microsoft's PC Health Check app has not been installed on your computer, the prompt Use the PC Health Check app to check compatibility will be displayed. In this case, click Get PC Health Check app, follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the app, and use the app to check whether your computer can be updated to Windows 11.
    • If your computer can be updated to Windows 11, click Refresh to enter the screen for installing Windows 11.

  11. When the installation is complete, restart your computer. The Windows 11 system screen will then be displayed. Download and install the latest version of Huawei PC Manager from the official website of Huawei Consumer BG. After the installation is complete, go to Optimization > Drivers and follow the onscreen instructions to update drivers to their latest versions.
