My HUAWEI phone/tablet does not push notifications for new SMS messages

Normal scenarios

1. If you are viewing the contact's information screen when receiving a message, the prompt tone or notification will not be triggered.

If you still do not receive any notification when receiving an SMS message in other scenarios, perform the following steps:

1. Check basic settings

1. Sound mode: Swipe down from the upper right corner of the screen to open Control Panel, and ensure that the device is in Sound mode and Do not disturb mode is disabled (or search for Do not disturb in Settings and turn off the switch).
2. Adjust the ringtone volume: Go to Settings > Sounds & vibration and increase the volume for incoming calls, messages, and notifications as needed.

2. Enable message notification

Go to Settings > Apps & services > Apps, search for and access Messaging, and tap Notifications.

1. Enable Allow notifications. If it is already enabled, disable it and then re-enable it.
2. Select SIM card 1/2 and disable Gentle notifications. If it is already disabled, enable it and then disable it again.
3. Enable Lock screen, Banners, and Badges. If they are already enabled, disable them and then re-enable them.
4. Enable ALLOW INTERRUPTIONS.

3. Clear message data (applicable only to HarmonyOS 4.X and earlier versions)

Cause: The data of Messaging may be abnormal.

Operation:

1. Open Settings and search for Apps.
2. Find Messaging or Messages and go to Storage > CLEAR DATA (this will not delete SMS data).
