Update issues of HUAWEI WATCH Series

  • Before updating your watch, ensure that your watch is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and the battery level is higher than 45%. If the battery level is lower than 45%, charge your watch for a while and try again.
  • For HUAWEI WATCH 5/HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate 2, it is recommended that you enable Auto-download update packages over Wi-Fi or Auto-update for automatic updates. To do so, go to Settings > HUAWEI WATCH XX > Check > Settings > Auto-download update packages over Wi-Fi/Auto-update.
Table 1. You can update your watch system in either of the following ways:

Via the Watch (Recommended)

Via the Huawei Health App (Not Supported on iPhones)

Disconnect your watch from your phone (by turning off Bluetooth on your watch or phone), connect your watch to Wi-Fi, and perform the following:

  • If you're using a HUAWEI WATCH 5/HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate 2 device, go to Settings > HUAWEI WATCH XX > Update.
  • If you're using a HUAWEI WATCH 3/4 device, go to Settings > Apps > Apps > Update > Storage > Clear data, and then go to Settings > System & updates > Update.
  • If you're using a phone running EMUI 10/Android 9.0 or later, go to the device details screen in the Update app, and tap Update.

If the issue persists, perform the following to troubleshoot:

The Huawei health app fails to transfer the update package/transfers the update package slowly

  • Disable Bluetooth on your phone and update via the watch.
  • After the update is complete, enable Bluetooth on your phone and reconnect your watch to the Huawei Health app.

The Huawei Health app or watch cannot detect a new version

  • Updates are pushed to watches in batches: Due to the large number of watches, the watch version will be pushed in batches. Please stay tuned for version updates and update your watch at your earliest convenience.
  • Network fluctuation on your phone causes the new version to be undetectable: Disable Bluetooth on your phone, and update via the watch.

A message displays indicating failure to download and install the new watch version

  • If your watch's network signal is poor, the download of the update package and the download speed will be affected. Ensure that your watch is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network, and go to Settings > System & updates > Update to download the update package.
  • During the installation, your watch will display a progress bar. Once the update is completed, your watch will restart automatically.
  • If the update package fails to be verified, authenticated, or installed, restart your watch and perform the update again. If the issue persists, restore your watch to its factory settings, pair your watch, download the update package, and try again.

    • A factory reset will clear all personal data from the wearable device, and remove any transportation cards, access cards, bank cards, and car keys. Please exercise caution before proceeding.
    • Before a factory reset of your wearable, it is recommended that you swipe down on the Huawei Health app home screen to sync data. A factory reset will not clear the historical data that has been synced and uploaded to Huawei Health.
    • If your watch has activated the eSIM service, make sure to leave the check box of Delete eSIM configuration unselected when performing a factory reset. By doing so, you can directly use the eSIM service when you pair your watch again. Otherwise, you will need to contact your carrier to deregister from the eSIM service and activate it again.

If the issue persists

If the issue remains unresolved or you encounter any difficulties, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
