My HUAWEI phone/tablet stops charging when the battery level reaches 80%, or the "Smart Charge" pop-up or a message indicating that charging has been paused is displayed

Problem:

  1. During the charging of the phone/tablet, the "Smart Charge" pop-up or a message indicating that charging has been paused is displayed on the status bar, or a message indicating that the phone/tablet has entered Smart Charge mode is displayed on the battery screen in Settings. When the battery level is between 80% and 100%, charging stops and the charging icon disappears.
  2. A Turbo charge pop-up and a Smart charge pop-up are displayed at the same time. When Smart Charge is enabled, tapping TURBO CHARGE cannot start charging.

Cause:

Smart Charge is a new feature on some HUAWEI models. It is a Battery protection mechanism.

The AI smart battery management effectively extends the Battery lifespan. When Smart Charge is triggered, a pop-up will be displayed for you to suit your needs. It is recommended that you enable Smart Charge.

Solution:

  1. Enabling Smart Charge can effectively extend the battery lifespan. To enable or disable it, open Settings and search for "Smart Charge". (If this switch is unavailable, your device does not support this feature.) If you wish to fully charge the battery immediately, tap RESUME CHARGING in the pop-up. If you tap GOT IT or perform no operation in the pop-up, this feature will continue to protect your battery.
  2. Tap RESUME CHARGING in the Smart charge pop-up. Then, you can enable Turbo charge.

If the issue persists, it may not be caused by Smart Charge. In this case, back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
