A Comparison of 5G Network and 5G Wi-Fi

What is 5G network?

5G Network is the fifth generation mobile communication network. Theoratically speaking, its peak transmission speed can reach 1GB every 8 seconds, which is more than 10 times faster than that of 4G network. The 5G network will provide higher data rates, lower latency, lower energy consumption, lower costs, system capacity improvements, and larger-scale device connection.

What is 5G Wi-Fi?

5G Wi-Fi refers to the Wi-Fi operating in the 5Ghz radio wave band. Higher wireless transmission speed is the highlight of 5G Wi-Fi. The entry-level speed of 5G Wi-Fi is 433Mbps, which is at least three times the 2.4G Wi-Fi rate. Some high-performance 5G Wi-Fi can even reach higher than 1Gbps.

What is the difference between 5G network and 5G Wi-Fi?

5G network represents a technology, while 5G Wi-Fi is a spectrum. The former refers to the 5th-generation cellular mobile communications technology which is capable of offering comprehensive mobile services, including voice, SMS, and broadband, while the latter is used to set up a wireless local area network on a specific frequency band for broadband services only. Due to its limited coverage, 5G Wi-Fi is mainly used for indoor hotspot coverage.
