My Huawei phone/tablet plays a default ringtone instead of a customised ringtone for incoming calls

Check whether the ringtone settings are correct by referring to Set a Ringtone. If the issue remains unresolved, perform the steps below according to your situation:

The device has not been unlocked after it was restarted or powered on

To protect your personal information, files on your device will remain encrypted and the system will prevent apps from accessing them when your device has not been unlocked after it has been restarted or powered on. As a result, only default ringtones are used.

Unlock your device for customised ringtones to be played.

The ringtone file has been deleted, moved, or damaged

The ringtone file is damaged and fails to be recognised. The system will automatically play the default ringtone. You will need to set the ringtone again.

If you have inserted two SIM cards into your device

If you have inserted two SIM cards into your device, go to Settings > Sounds & vibration > Phone ringtone, touch to hear the ringtones for SIM 1 and 2 separately, and check if you have set customised ringtones for both cards.
