What to do if the Wi-Fi signal is weak or the network speed is too slow

If the Wi-Fi signal on your HUAWEI device is weak or the network speed is too slow, please try the troubleshooting steps below.

Weak wireless signal

If the Wi-Fi signal is weak, it may be that your device is too far away from the router or there are obstacles between them. Move your phone or tablet near the router or remove any obstacle and check the signal strength again.

Metal and magnetic materials can interfere and even block the wireless signal. If you are using a metal or magnetic case or a magnetic phone holder, please remove them and try to connect to the Wi-Fi network again.

If the wireless signal is still weak even after moving the device near the router or if the signal is normal for other devices, then the Wi-Fi module of your phone or table may be faulty.

In this case, please back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.

Slow network speed

If the signal strength on your device is good, but the network speed is too slow, this may be caused by nearby radio interference.

For example, if you are using Bluetooth to transfer files or play music on a speaker or headset, this may affect the wireless connection, as Bluetooth uses the same frequency band as a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. In this case, disable Bluetooth and check the network speed again.

Also, if both you device and your router support 5 GHz Wi-Fi, connect your phone or tablet to a 5 GHz wireless network. Please consult the router manual for further information.

The slow network speed may also be caused by an issue with the router or with the broadband carrier network.Restart the router and check if the Wi-Fi starts working normally. If the issue persists, contact your Internet provider's customer services for assistance.

Reset the network settings

You can also try to reset the network settings. Open the Settings on your HUAWEI device, search for Reset network settings and follow the onscreen instructions to perform a reset. This will delete all of your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. Once the reset is completed, try connecting your device to the Wi-Fi network again.

If none of the above solved the issue, back up your data and take your device and proof-of-purchase to an authorised HUAWEI Customer Service Centre or contact HUAWEI Customer Services for further assistance.
