Unable to use the Wi-Fi bridge on my device |
The Wi-Fi bridge feature of your HUAWEI device allows you to share your home Wi-Fi with your friends and guests without having to reveal them the network password.
You can set a temporary username and password for the shared network; once the new credentials are provided to your friends or guests, they will be able to connect the Wi-Fi until this feature is disabled.
If you encounter issues when trying to activate the Wi-Fi bridge (the function cannot be enabled or you receive a warning message saying that an "Encrypted network connections cannot be shared over a Wi-Fi Bridge”), there are several scenarios to be taken into consideration.
The connection cannot be shared if your device is connected to a certificate-encrypted or VPN network. Moreover, in order to use the Wi-Fi bridge, your smartphone or tablet has to be connected to a Wi-Fi network; if your device has no wireless connection, the Wi-Fi bridge cannot be activated.
Also you can swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel and tap and hold the Wi-Fi icon to access the Wi-Fi settings screen. Touch the name of the wireless network you want to connect to and check its encryption type. If the encryption type is EAP, the Wi-Fi bridge feature is not available.
To solve the issue, make sure that your device is connected to a wireless network. Also, ensure that the Wi-Fi is not certificate-encrypted, EAP-encrypted or a VPN network before using the Wi-Fi bridge.
