My HUAWEI phone has an unstable or poor signal, or no signal at all

Your phone's signal strength is closely related to the network environment. If the number of signal bars on the status bar changes from time to time, or the symbol "×" (as shown in ) is displayed, follow the steps below to troubleshoot:

Check the SIM card

  1. If you manually cut the original SIM card out of its template, the SIM card shape may not be the right shape, or it might not make contact with the required areas, and this can affect the phone signal. It is recommended that you go to a network provider's customer service centre and ask for a new standard SIM card.
  2. If the SIM card is dirty or oxidized, it may also result in poor contact. It is recommended that you keep the SIM card clean.

Avoid interference from metal or magnetic materials

If your phone uses a special metal protective case, or if you are in an elevator or car, it is recommended that you remove the protective case, or leave the elevator or car before using your phone. Metal and magnetic materials may interfere with the signal, resulting in poor signal quality.

Ensure that the SIM card has not been disabled

Open Settings, search for and access SIM management, and enable the SIM card. If the SIM card has been disabled, there will not be a signal bar displayed on the status bar.

Check whether the network is faulty

  1. Make sure that your network connection is good
    • In some enclosed environments, such as in an area with many tall buildings near each other, the phone signal may be obstructed and weakened.
    • Your network provider's network coverage may vary depending on where you are. In some areas, network provider coverage may be insufficient, resulting in a poor signal.

If your phone's signal is poor in specific areas, or nearby phones using SIM cards from the same provider are also getting a poor signal, the network connection in this area may be poor. Try moving to another location.

  2. Restart your phone, or enable and then disable Airplane mode

Some special network configurations may cause your phone to receive an unstable or poor signals, or no signal at all. Restart your phone, or enable and then disable Airplane mode to resolve this issue.

  3. Reset the APN

Open Settings, search for APNs in the top search box, and touch Access Point Names to access the Mobile data settings screen. Touch Access Point Names again, touch or in the upper right corner, and select Reset to default.

  4. Reset network settings
Open Settings, search for and access Reset network settings, and enable Reset network settings.

Note: This will delete all your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection history, and the lock screen password will be required for verification.

Update your phone system to the latest version

It is recommended that you update your phone at your earliest convenience when a new version becomes available.

If the issue remains unresolved

If the issue remains unresolved, contact the Huawei customer service hotline, or back up your data and take your device and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
