Setting or deleting the BIOS POST Password |
The BIOS POST Password is stored in the BIOS ROM chip once set to protect your computer's security and privacy. Once the BIOS POST Password is set, you will be asked to enter it every time during startup. This password will not be deleted even after you reinstall the system.
- The computers do not come with a BIOS POST Password or any type of universally applied passwords. We recommend that you set up your passwords based on your security needs.
- If you have set up a BIOS Post Password but lost it, you can only access the system by replacing the main board of the computer (to replace the main board of your computer, back up your data, then bring your computer and proof of purchase to an authorised Huawei Customer Service Centre for assistance).
Setting a BIOS POST Password:
- Press and hold F2 during startup to enter the Setup screen.
- Click POST Password under Security Setting.
- Enter your password in the pop-up POST password settings dialog box, enter it again to confirm, then press Enter.
- Press F10 to save your settings. Enter the BIOS POST Password in the pop-up screen to re-access the computer system.
Deleting a BIOS POST Password:
- Press and hold F2 during startup and enter the BIOS POST password to enter the Setup screen.
- Click POST Password under Security Setting.
- Enter the password you have set in the pop-up POST password settings dialog box, press Enter twice in succession, leave the new password field blank, then press Enter again.
- Press F10 to save the settings and restart your computer.
