Unable to view all hard disks in the BIOS boot device |
Problem
When powering on the computer, the newly installed hard disk is not shown when pressing and holding F12 after entering the Boot Manager screen.
Cause
Your hard disk may not have been installed successfully, or your new hard disk may not have bootable system files.
Solution
- If you installed a new hard disk, check whether the hard disk was successfully installed.
When starting or restarting the computer, press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup screen. All of the installed disks will appear in the Disk Information area. If the newly installed disk does not appear, reinstall the disk.
- Check whether there are bootable system files on your hard disk.
When starting or restarting computer, press F2 to enter the BIOS Setup screen. Check whether the hard disk is available in Bootable Device. If it's not available, it means that no system file is available on the hard disk. You can use an external boot device (such as a USB flash drive) to copy system files to the new hard disk.
- The default BIOS boot order is SSD, HDD, and then USB. If you would like to specify a disk to boot, select the hard disk from Bootable Device, and deselect other hard disks.
- If you wish to see the newly installed hard disk both in Bootable Device on the BIOS Setup screen, as well as from the boot devices on the Boot Manager screen, and set the system to boot from the new hard disk, you'll need to add system files to the new hard disk to ensure that the OS can be installed on the hard disk.
- You can obtain the bootable system files from an external boot device (such as a USB flash drive).
