Unable to detect external devices

Problem:

When the user connects an external device to the computer using the USB port, the computer cannot detect the device.

Solution:

  1. Connect other devices with the USB port to the computer and check whether this issue still occurs.
  2. If this issue does not occur, download and install the serial IO driver from the official website.

To take the HUAWEI MateBook X Pro as an example, visit https://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/laptops/matebook-x-pro/.

Expand Others and download MateBook_X_Pro_SerialIO_30.100.1746.4 30.100.1746.4.

HONOR MagicBook (Ryzen) does not support this driver. If you are using this model, skip this step.

  3. If this issue persists, check the USB settings of your computer. To do this, perform the following:
    1. Enter Control Panel in the search box on the taskbar and open it. Select View by:, Small icons, then Power Options.

    2. Select Balanced (recommended) then Change plan settings.

    3. Click Change advanced power settings.

    4. Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting, and select both On battery: and Plugged in: to Disabled.

  4. If this issue persists, disconnect your computer from the charger, and press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to force shut down your computer. Restart your computer and check whether the issue persists.
