Unable to shut down the computer or switch it to Sleep mode
Unable to shut down the computer or switch it to Sleep mode |
Cause
This is an issue with the hibernation file generated when the fast startup function is enabled (often enabled by default). In this case, shutting down or enabling Sleep mode will be regarded as a hibernating command and the system will automatically generate a hibernation file. If there is an issue with the file, the user may encounter an issue when trying to shut down the computer or switch it to Sleep mode.
Solution
Method 1: Disable the fast startup function.
Step 1: Enter Power & sleep settings in the search box in the lower left corner and click Power & sleep.
Step 2: Click Additional power settings.
Step 3: Click Choose what the power button does on the left of the screen.
Step 4: Click Change settings that are currently unavailable, deselect Turn on fast startup (recommended) to disable the function, and then click Save changes.
Method 2: When powering on the computer, press and hold or just press the F10 key to restore the computer to its factory settings. Please back up your important data in advance, as restoring the computer to its factory settings will clear all data in the C drive, including personal files downloaded in Desktop, Downloads, and Documents.
