[HUAWEI] When receiving an incoming call, my band/watch sometimes displays the caller's name and sometimes displays the number |
Once you have paired your band/watch with your phone via Bluetooth, it will be automatically granted permission to access your phone's contacts. When you receive an incoming call and the caller has been saved as a contact (on the phone or the SIM card), the caller's name will be displayed. If the caller has not been saved, the caller's number will be displayed. For some contacts, if the contact name is sometimes displayed and the number is sometimes displayed, perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Grant the permission to access contacts
- iPhones: Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your phone, touch the exclamation icon
next to the name of your currently connected band/watch to enter the Settings screen, and enable Sync Contacts.
- Android phones:

Check whether the contact name contains special characters
If the contact name contains special characters, your watch/band may not be able to identify them. In this case, your watch/band will not display the contact name but will display the phone number instead. It is recommended that you use normal characters for contact names.
Ensure that the contact number on your phone is not prefixed with the international calling code (such as +86)
If the phone number is prefixed with an international calling code such as +86, the caller's name of the incoming call will not be displayed. It is recommended that you delete the international calling code, and try again.
If this issue persists, try the following:
- It is recommended that you save phone numbers to the phone memory. Your band/watch will access the contacts in the phone memory first and then those in the SIM card.

Take the HUAWEI nova 9 as an example. Go to Add. For the detailed adding methods about other phones, contact the corresponding phone manufacturer.

- Only your phone's local contacts can be synced to the HUAWEI WATCH 3 Series models. The contacts on your phone's SIM card cannot be synced to them.
- The HUAWEI TalkBand B5 does not display the names of contacts stored on SIM card 2.
- Due to system restrictions on third-party Android phones, the contact name and number may not be displayed even after the permission is granted. For details, contact your phone manufacturer.
