Repairing and uninstalling software

Problem

Some software does not run properly or cannot be uninstalled normally.

Cause

This is an issue with the software.

Solution

I. Repair the software and the program

  1. Click the Windows icon and then the Settings icon, then go to Apps > Apps & features.
  2. Select the application you want to recover.
  3. Click Advanced options. (Some applications do not have this option). Click Repair. If the above option is not available for this application, or you have tried this solution and it does not resolve the issue, select Reset.

II. Uninstall the software and the program

  1. Method 1
    1. Click the Windows icon,
      1. find the software or program you want to uninstall.
      2. Right-click the application and select Uninstall.

    2. Method 2
      1. Click the Windows icon and then the Settings icon, then go to Apps > Apps & features.
      2. Select the app that you want to uninstall and click Uninstall.

    3. Method 3 (applies to uninstalling programs)
      1. Find the Control Panel by entering Control Panel in the search box on the taskbar, and open it.

      2. Go to Programs > Programs and Features.

      3. Right click the program that you want to uninstall, and click Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then, follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall the program.

  2. If you cannot uninstall the software,
    1. Method 1:
      Note: Modifying the registry may cause third-party software exceptions or system access failures. Back up your data in advance and perform this operation with guidance from a professional.
      1. Press the Win and R keys to display the Run window. Enter regedit and then click OK to open Registry Editor.

      2. In the Registry Editor window, choose [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall] > Uninstall, select the file you want to delete and delete it. Then, restart the computer. Once this is done, go to Uninstall or change a program and uninstall the program.

      3. If you cannot delete the program, right-click on it and select Permissions....
      4. Check Allow under the Full Control heading. Click Apply.

    2. Method 2:
      1. Press F8 to enter Safe mode and uninstall the relevant applications. For details on how to enable or disable Safe mode, see our guide.
      2. Follow the above methods to uninstall software and programs.
    3. Method 3:

      Uninstall programs using third-party applications.
