My phone screen turns on and off incorrectly during calls |
Problem:
- During a call, the user places their phone on a surface and covers the top of the screen with their hand, but the screen does not turn off.
- During a call using the Phone app or a social networking app, the screen does not turn off when the user places their phone close to their face.
- The screen does not turn on after a call ends in the Phone app or a social networking app.
Cause:
Your phone screen relies on the proximity sensor when turning on or off automatically. This only works when:
- It detects an object approaching the receiver.
- It detects the pick up or put down gesture.
If the issue persists, your phone may have entered Sleep mode during calls. If it does, the proximity sensor will be disabled. Your phone will enter Sleep mode when you are making a hands-free call (on a speaker or headset), or close the flip cover or leave the call screen during the call. In this case, press the Power button to turn the screen back on.
Suggestions:
- Keep your phone close to your face during calls.
- Pick up or put down your phone in a swift manner to ensure the proximity sensor is triggered.
- Use the Power button to turn the screen on or off during calls.
Thanks for your feedback.
