To save battery power, the earphones will be initialised and wake up when they are powered on or when the charging case is opened, before connecting to your phone/tablet. It is normal for this process to take some time, and it does not indicate an issue with your device.
Earphones which support dual connection and are paired with two devices will connect to those two devices in sequence when the charging case is opened or when they are powered on. The second device will normally take longer to connect.
