- Right-click the Windows icon and select Device Manager.
- Expand the options in Mice and other pointing devices. Right-click the option for an external mouse and select Properties.
- For a laptop connected to an external mouse, there are two HID-compliant mouse items in Mice and other pointing devices, but only the external mouse can be used to wake your computer. To check whether a device is an external mouse, you can view its Location information on the General tab after clicking Properties, and an external mouse will be displayed as on USB Input Device in this field.
- If the computer is in sleep mode, you are unable to use a Bluetooth mouse to wake the computer because Bluetooth is disabled during this time.
- For a laptop connected to an external mouse, there are two HID-compliant mouse items in Mice and other pointing devices, but only the external mouse can be used to wake your computer. To check whether a device is an external mouse, you can view its Location information on the General tab after clicking Properties, and an external mouse will be displayed as on USB Input Device in this field.
- Select Allow this device to wake the computer on the Power Management tab in the displayed HID-compliant mouse Properties window and click OK.
